What is Massage?
Massage is any touch that is capable of evoking a change in the body and can be vigorous and deep producing a feeling of increased energy, but also rhythmical and soothing to promote relaxation. On a physical level, it eases and soothes muscular tension, drains congested tissue and improves circulation and breathing. The immune system can be strengthened and overall health improved.
Holistic massage considers the whole person rather than a range of conditions. All aspects of the client are weighed and examined, including emotional wellbeing and physical ailments.
Advanced massage techniques can be incorporated if required in order to help alleviate pain and stress in the body, through muscle energy techniques (MET), trigger point therapy and myofacial release.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A TREATMENT
A treatment can last between 30 minutes to 1 hour.
There will be an initial consultation for the first treatment in order to determine any contra-indications or areas that may need specific attention.
Holistic Massage for a full body treatment will generally follow a format that starts with massage to the back and backs of the legs, ending with the client lying face upwards.
Long connective strokes are used between the body parts being worked upon, from head to foot to aid relaxation.
The massage strokes themselves will be adapted to suit the needs of the individual, whether by deepening or lightening the pressure applied.
Pre-blended aromatherapy oils, a base oil or cream can be used depending on preference.
